XStandard ® version 2 becomes keyboard accessible and takes standards-compliant WYSIWYG authoring to the Mac platform
July 3, 2007 (Toronto) - Belus Technology today announced the release of XStandard version 2. XStandard is the leading standards-compliant WYSIWYG editor for desktop applications and browser-based content management systems (IE/Firefox/Safari/Opera).
The new release expands XStandard sales into the Mac operating world and has a reconfigured user interface that is keyboard accessible.
"Our decision to take XStandard onto the Mac platform offers a commercial advantage to developers of content management systems who need to accommodate PCs and Macs in one solution" said Belus CEO Shelagh Nerney. "It also opens up a brand new market for XStandard sales."
Keyboard accessibility is also expected to boost sales of XStandard to IT purchasers who must ensure that software purchases strive to comply with regulatory requirements. In addition to keyboard accessibility, XStandard's interface has been redesigned to reflect usability guidelines from W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization).
"From the perspective of standards-compliance and accessibility, the code that XStandard generates is unmatched and already complies with W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)", said Vlad Alexander, head of development at Belus Technology "but clean code and the new keyboard accessibility are only milestones in a larger project. That project is to make XStandard the first WYSIWYG editor that is screen-reader accessible. At that point, blind users, for example, will also be able to author standards-compliant content using XStandard."
